Atoyac River: Oaxaca, Mexico 2012 > A Las Orillias Del Rio (At The Banks of the River)

Interviews were conducted with riverside residents about their relationship to the Atoyac River. The statements were then embroidered on activated charcoal cloth sewn in the form of a huipil (traditional Mexican shirt). The huilpils were then taken to the riverbank and washed- recreating the lost action of washing at the banks which disappeared as pollution increased.
